L/Ac. Fred Walker, son of Mr and Mrs C Walker, 48 Cliff View, Denaby, who has served about five years with the RAF, for the last 12 months in India, was before volunteering employed at Cadeby Colliery.

His younger brother Ronnie, came into prominence recently by the report of his diving into the canal fully closed to rescue a child.

L.A.C.Walker married Miss Reilly of Mexborough and Mrs Walker and their little son, Ray, reside at to 2 Pit Street Mexborough.

He has been prominently engaged with RAF clubs in England and Ceylon and is the nephew of the late Mr H Walker who played for Derby County for 14 years
