Alleged Unlawful Wounding at Denaby

Patrick Kelly, collier of Denaby, was charged with unlawfully wounding Patrick Sheen by striking him on the head with a poker The injured man was not able to appear.

A police constable said that he apprehended the prisoner yesterday, and in answer to the charge prisoner said, “Is he dead ? I only tapped him.”

The witness added that the injured man’s left ear was split, and he was suffering from a bad wound in the head.

Prisoner was remanded for a week, bail refused.
