An Obstinate Filler
Refused To Work
George Woodward, filler, Conisboro’, was charged with what Mr. Gichard described as a similar offence.
The prosecution alleged that he was found in the mine not working, and was asked to go to work. Under the promise that he would be was paid for a full day’s work. Defendant then said that he had emptied his water out of the bottle, and would not go back to work. They had to fetch him some water, but he refused it.
George Cooke, under – manager, corroborated this statement of Mr. Gichard’s, and said that defendant would not go back to work.
Harry Sykes Witty, manager, said the amount of the damages was far in advance of 7/6.
Fined 5/- and costs.
