An Ungrateful Thief
Eliza Dickenson, mill hand, Huddersfield, was charged with stealing a shawl belonging to Mary Ann Ward, of Conisborough, on October 7th, 1893.
The prosecutrix said that the prisoner was wandering about apparently homeless and she took pity on her, took her into the house and gave her food. The prisoner went away suddenly after staying two days, and after her departure she missed the shawl. The prisoner was arrested in Huddersfield.
The Chairman commenting on the ingratitude displayed by the prisoner, sentenced her to 14 days hard labour.
