From Truman’s evidence it appeared that whilst the row mentioned in the last case was going on at Mexborough size of Denaby, who engage in a row not quite association agents on the countryside of Denaby. He saw prisoner and was fighting, when the row be stopped prisoner came up and seized his legs, throwing him down. Before he (Truman) could seize him prisoner had got away.
Police-constable Parker came up, and they chased prisoner and caught him in a field. He was very violent all the way to the police station, and also very troublesome in the cells. He would not let them shut the door, but place his foot in between it sad the jamb.
Police constable Parker heard a row near New Denaby, and coming up saw prisoner go through the hedge into a field. He followed and caught him. They had much trouble in getting him to the Police Station, as he was drunk and violent.
Prisoner said he had not intentionally not the constable down. He had had a little drink, and the uneven footpath caused him to fall against the constable’s leg. As to his being chased into the field, he had been in half an hour before the police saw him light his pipe. He had not made a row in the cell; all he did was ask for his boots, as the cell floor was damp. The officers had treated them badly in the cells.
