Another Judgement Summons from Denaby

A man, named Sidney Hodgson, now residing at Stairfoot, but who formerly lived at Denaby at the time of the great strike, appeared on a judgement summons at the instance of the Denaby and Cadeby Colleries Ltd to recover the sum of £6 7s 6d damages and costs awarded to the company, by reason of the defendant absenting himself from work without giving notice.

Mr W.M. Gichard, representing the colliery company, asked for an order of 15/- a week against defendant, who was earning an average of £2 10s.

Defendant said he could not pay that amount, as he had seven children at home.

An order for 10/- a week was made.
