Swinton 1 Denaby 2

These two teams met at Swinton. On Saturday in search of points in the South Yorkshire league. Both teams were fully represented.

The result of the game fully justified in feeling that the Denabyites are a clever lot of men. In the first half of the game play was of an even character on both sides, although the home goal had some narrow escapes.

Swinton were successful in winning the toss and decided to kick downhill, thus causing Denaby to face the sun. From the kick-off Swinton advanced to the visitor´s goal, and had a foul which however proved unproductive. Denaby then had a turn and moved rapidly to the home goal

Half-time arrived with the score one goal to none in favour of Denaby.

On resuming, each end was visited in turn, in quick succession, and after a brilliant run, Haigh of Swinton registered their first goal.

Denaby appeared to be nettled by this reverse, and after a considerable time managed to register their second goal.

Swinton then tried very hard to equalise, but failed to do so, and the game ended in a win for Denaby.
