Mexborough and Swinton Times April 19

Denaby United 2 Montrose Works 3

At Denaby, the home side playing a number of reserves.

Montrose attacked smartly at the outset, but the corner, which came to them, was easily cleared. Give-and-take play was the order of the day, the ball travelling from end to end, but at the interval, there was a clean scoresheet.

Cammell scored for the Works soon after the resumption, and Wright hit the post when well placed.

Then Hallet equalised with a fine ground shot.

Montrose did most of the attacking, and Rushforth kicked through his own goal, whilst Ryall
scored a third goal.

Again Hallet beat Hague but the efforts of the home team to draw level proved futile and the game ended in victory for Montrose.
