Assault at Bentley

Charles George Stace, a labourer of Conisbrough, was charged with assaulting Henry Stace of Bentley. The two men were brothers, and on the 1st inst. the defendant had gone to his brother’s house at Bentley, where they quarrelled and the defendant eventually assaulted him.

The defendant stated that his brother had struck the first blow and that he had only acted in self-defence. He was fined 20 shillings, including costs.
