Assault At Denaby.

Yesterday at the Rotherham West Riding Police Court, Josiah Wood and John Wood, brothers, were summoned for having assaulted Emily Wood at Denaby.

Complainant was the wife of the defendant John, and according her statement Jonah created a quarrel and struck her, causing a black eye. Her husband put Jonah out, and then in his passion, hit her in the face, blacking the other eye.

The defendants did not now answer the summonses, and in answer to the Bench the complainant said they had gone away through fear of having to go to prison.

In tears she pleaded that the man should forgiven, stating that the violence was doe to passion.

Each of the defendants was ordered to pay 40s. including costs.
