Assault at Wath

William Kelly, miner, Denaby, was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment for an assault on Hannah Jackson, at Wath, on November 30th.

Prisoner met the woman in the street when drunk, knocked her down, and kicked her. She had since been under medical care.

Prisoner had just served seven days for drunkenness, and in sentencing him the Chairman said the magistrates must put a step to such ruffianism for a short time by sending him to prison.
