Assault by a Woman at Denaby

Mary Devine, of January, was summoned for assaulting John Hunt, on 12 March.

It appeared that the complainant formerly lodged with the defendant, and he owed her some money. On the night in question, when he went in, she asked for some money, and threw water in his face.

She afterwards threatened to fill him in with a poker, and when in the yard she dealt him a blow on the head with instrument, inflicting a severe wound.

Witnesses were called on both sides of the case, after which the defendant was mulcted in a penalty of 10 shillings and costs.
