Assault On The Highway At Conisboro.
Thomas Porter, collier, Denaby, was summoned on a charge of assaulting William Thompson, collier, Denaby, at Conisboro’, on December 4th.
Defendant did not appear.
Complainant stated that at nine o’clock at night, on the 4th inst. he was going on the highway between Conisboro’, and Denaby. Defendant overtook him, and asked witness the time. Witness answered him, that he thought it was about half past nine. Defendant then used abusive language, followed him, struck him on the side of the head, knocked him down, and kicked him.
Defendant was not sober at the time.
John Knighton gave corroborative evidence.
Fined 20s., or in default one month imprisonment.
