At Last – Urban Powers for Conisboro’

Ministry of Health Dismiss Appeal and Central Order.

The Ministry of Health Dismissed the appeal against the Order of the West Riding County Council constituting portions of the of Cadeby, Conisborough and Denaby an urban district, and have formally confirmed the Order with certain modifications. The exact nature of the modification is not known hut there is reason to believe that they are not very extensive.

The Ministry of Health’s notice of the confirmation of the Order is as follows:

“ With reference to the Order of the Riding County Council for the constitution as an urban district of portions of the Parishes of Cadeby, Conisborough and Denaby, I am directed by the Minister of Health to state that on consideration of the report made by the Inspector, by whom the local enquiry was held on the 6th Dec. last at Conisborough, the Minister has decided to confirm the Order of the County Council with certain modifications.

“It is anticipated that the confirming Order will be issued in time to allow it to operate as from the first of April next. This, of course, will mean that there will in all probability be an election for the first Urban District Council at Conisborough during April.
