For Conisbrough School Leavers
Attractive Careers Programme
Mexborough Secondary Schools Governors last night expressed their support for a careers Programme which is being run at Conisbro’ Northcliffe Secondary Girls’ School this term for the benefit of girls who will be leaving school at Easter.
In her report to the Governor Miss D. J. Hillborne, headmistress of the school, said a programme of talks by experts, visits to works, and in cases where neither of these are possible, film strips, had been arranged. Youth Employment Officers had organised the programme and members of the school staff were dealing with the preparation and following up.
Lectures are to be given on such careers as police, H.M. Forces, clerical and domestic work, dispensing, farming retail work and further education.
Mr. R. H. Haigh, J.P., one of the Governors, who is chairman of the local Youth Employment Committee, congratulated Miss Hillborne on the scheme.
