Awards for Denaby and Cadeby Drivers

Alderman Ben Roberts J.P., chairman of Conisbrough and Denaby Road Safety Committee on Wednesday presented safe driving awards to 5 drivers of the Denaby and Cadeby Home Coal Carting committee each of whom already had nine Tears’ accident-free driving.

The presentations were made to Frederick Davis, of Bentley Road, Doncaster; Stanley Houghton„ of 1,  Ferry Villas, Low Road, Conisbrough; Norman Shaw, of 5, Ferry Villas; Thomas Wakefield, of 6, Ferry Villas and George West, of 2, Ferry Villas.

This year was Mr West’s final award for after 40; years’ service as a driver he has now relinquished driving duties.

During 1957 the Committee delivered in the district 32,000 tons of coal, a record since the inception of the committee.

Alderman Roberts congratulated the drivers on their record and said it was a really big achievement and the drivers were an example to others.
