Baby “Born With a Black Eye”
Sydney Wright, 12, Barnsley Road, Conisborough, was charged at Doncaster on Tuesday with having neglected his child, aged 3 weeks. He pleaded not guilty.
The wife, Florence Mary Wright, 7, Loversall Street, Denaby, said they had been married two years, their only child being three weeks old. She left her husband on June 15th because of his cruelty.
“He was always thumping me in bed, and the baby was born with a black eye.” Wright had not maintained her.
Wright, who said his wife left him during August, was sent to prison for a month.
