After five days Denaby strike.

At a mass meeting in Denaby Miners Welfare Club on Sunday morning, 120 colliers from Denaby Main decided to return to work so that negotiations between the management and union officials could take place.

The men had been on strike since Tuesday, claiming that a machine used for coal cutting in their seam, the Haigh Moor, was continually breaking down, losing them between 10 shillings. and 15 shillings per shift.

The men’s strike caused a further 120 men to be idle, and there was a complete stoppage in the seam, which produces 4,000 tons of coal per week. About 2,500 tons were lost.
