Bad Luck for Pigeon Fancier

Mr. Abe Fox, a well-known pigeon fancier has this last week-end been the victim of most atrocious luck. He sent three birds for the National Homing race, and his first two bird, returned 11 minutes before any others in the race. On the arrival of the third bird he found to his dismay that his clock had stopped—the first time such a thing has happened for four years—and consequently he is disqualified.

But for this untimely accident he would have won a canteen of cutlery valued at £27 10s., a gold watch worth £10, and some pools.
