Bandmaster’s Funeral Imposing Procession At Conisborough.
The funeral of Mr. Moses Soar (63), of Craiglea, Station road, Conisborough, late chief compensation clerk of the Denaby and Cadeby Collieries, and for many years conductor of the Denaby Main Corps Band the St. John Ambulance Brigade, took place yesterday.
After a service at the Parish Church, the massed bands of the ambulance divisions in the area headed procession to the cemetery.
Among those present were the former managing director of the Denaby and Cadeby Collieries, Mr. W. H. Chambers, of Clayworth Hall, Notts, and Mr. T. W. Ireland, M.A., head of Mexborough Secondary School; the Rev. S. Bowley, Vicar of Denaby Main; district officials of the St. John Ambulance Brigade, including H. Hulley, agent of the Denaby, Cadebv and Maltby Collieries, W. Still, manager Denaby Colliery, and G. Severn: ambulance officers J. W. Cook, C. J. Pickett, D. Ross, R. Ross, J. Whimpenny, and W. Wilkinson.
At the graveside, “Rimmington,” late bandmaster’s favourite tune, was played by the band, and the “Last Post” was sounded by the Corps buglers.
