Basking In The Caribbean Sun

Two Conisbrough men are among an Army force at present enjoying the sun and the sand of a Caribbean island while fostering law and order 5,000 miles from Britain,

Cpl. Brian Hammond (25) (picture, right) of Markham Avenue and Sapper David Jones (24) (picture, left) of Sheffield Road, are in Anguilla with the Royal Engineers. David, a driver, and Brian, an Engineer, are at present employed in the construction of roads, a jetty and a school.

Golden beaches

But with the background of golden beaches, palm trees and the Caribbean Sea, the men in their spare time are enjoying swimming, fishing and basking in the sun to make up for all that hard, hot work.

Brian has been on Anguilla with the Army for six months and David for three months, but they only have to look around them to be reminded of home – they have 84 London policemen to keep them company!
