Behind the “Curtain”

During a fortnight’s tour of the continent Mr Norman Lax, landlord of the Star Inn, Conisbrough, spent a day behind the “Iron Curtain” when he flew from Vienna to a small town in the Russian Sector.

Other countries visited were Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Czechoslovakia and Bavaria.

Among the places of interest visited, he was most impressed by the underground shelter made by Hitler at Berchesgarten, Germany.

He returned home on Sunday.
