Benefit Concert for Band

the 500 people who assembled at the “Big Drum”, Denaby, on Tuesday evening to hear the music rendered by the Many Minstrels under the able supervision of Mr T Oldfield, were well entertained.

The object was to raise the funds necessary for the upkeep of the band, whose engagements lately have been very numerous.

The first item on the programme was an over to entitled “Caliph de Baghdad”by the band.

The chorus “the freshening Gale” by the troop is greatly appreciated as was also sung by George Thomas, who possesses a remarkably strong baritone voice.

The —– songs also rendered by the troop evoked loud laughter, as was a comic song by H Hillerby.

Mr T Oldfield, who is a manager of the troop possesses a great gift of local power, and has become quite popular in local music circles.

There were 10 minutes into the gym which refreshments will serve to those that way inclined.
