Big Changes At Conisbrough Station Hotel
Cadeby colliery miners, who have for years used the old concert and meeting room at the Station Hotel, Conisbrough, as a traditional meeting place for NUM. Branch meetings, have have to change their venue, because of alterations to the public house.
They will, however, be accommodated in a new concert and meeting field at the same public house when alterations are completed, and will have a much larger room in which to hold their meetings.
The present smoke, television lounge and kitchen are to become one big Room; the present garage and outhouse are to be converted into a concert room, television room and lounge, and a new dance hall, comparable in size to Denaby Bath’s Hall, is to be opened upstairs. It is then expected that regular dances will be held in this room. This will also be the new meeting place for the miners.
These alterations which are now in progress are expected to be completed by the end of the year, but will be open to the public at the end of August. The alterations are being carried out by Whitworth’s to whom the public house belongs.
