Black-Out Delays Pantomime at Denaby

IT was unfortunate for the pantomime company at the Tom Hill Youth Centre last Friday that a fault occurred in the electricity supply in the early evening which affected the centre.

At the time when the cast should have been dressing and people taking their seats the place was in darkness. Electricity Board men worked hard to restore the light and at about 7 p.m, were able to fix up a temporary arrangement. The show began about 20 minutes late. The company and their helpers did well to be ready in so short a time.

Then just as the Baron and his two daughters were about to ” tell the tale ” the Place was again plunged into darkness.

Mrs. Blacklock (pianist) kept on playing and into the breach stepped the skiffle group trio (Messrs. G Gwatkin), playing songs all knew. So the show went on with community singing until the lighting was repaired and the show could proceed.

It was a very good show, with colourful scenes, very pretty effects good dancing and handsome costumes. They certainly had an appreciative audience on Friday and for Saturda,y (the last performance) they were well booked.
