Blown against Bus

The gale was responsible for an accident at Denaby on Saturday. John Maughan (13) son of Edward Maughan, minor, Clifton Street, was leaving the shopper Mr Tim Peters, Doncaster Road, by whom he is employed, when he was lifted up by the wind and carried from the footpath into the side of a bus.

The bus, which had been driven at a moderate speed towards Mexborough was pulled up immediately, but the impact knocked Maughan to the ground and the bus pass alongside his left leg. Fortunately he was wearing a heavy overcoat at the time, and this saved him from serious injury, the wheel passing over the edge of the overcoat.

He is detained in Fullerton hospital, suffering from shock and a lacerated leg.
