Bomb Killed Denaby Man
Singapore, Thursday.
The British soldier killed on Christmas night by a hand-grenade thrown at a group of Service men in Ipoh, Perak, was Driver Whitewell, of Denaby, near Doncaster, it was disclosed today by military headquarters, Malaya.
Four soldiers seriously injured were L/Cpl. Silburn, of Hull: Driver Baldwin, of Selly Park, Birmingham; Driver W. Wilson, of Wallsend-on-Tyne, Northumberland ; and Driver Lloyd, of Springfield. Wolverhampton.—Reuter.
