Boys Mystery Fall
Conisbrough Police Constable son

John Dyson (seven), son of P. C. Geoffrey Dyson, who only came to Conisbrough last September, was seriously injured when he fell into the Brickyard Pond near his home in Windmill Avenue on Wednesday.

But Johns mishap is something of a mystery, for his mother, Mrs. Phyllis Dyson, told the “South Yorkshire Times” that she could not understand why he did not wet his swimming trunks which he was wearing at the time.

It was so warm, she explained, that he was only wearing his bathing trunks, stockings and sandals, but his trunks were perfectly dry when he was brought home. He was covered in blood; his head was badly gashed, his lip was burst, and his back and knees were cut.

John has been detained in Doncaster infirmary, but his mother said yesterday that he is now sitting up and taking notice once again.
