Mexborough & Swinton Times – Saturday 02 November 1912
Breach of Signalling Rules.
Arthur Fisher, rope Turner, Denaby, was summoned by the Denaby and Cadeby Colliery company, charge with signalling for some tubs to be like, without having any authority to do so.
James William Thompson said that a signal or three rings would cause the tubs to be lowered.
John Hargate said he was in charge of the “Jenny” on October 14. He received a signal to lower the tubs, and if he had not noticed that the rope was slack an accident might have occurred. No one could possibly have committed the offence but the defendant, as he was the only one there.
The defendant (who is 14 years of age), denied the offence.
Ordered to pay 12s inclusive.
