Breach Of The Poaching Prevention Act
Robt. Cooper, sicklesmith, Conisboro’, was charged with a breach of the Poaching Prevention Act at Conisboro’ on the 1st inst.
Police-sergeant Calcraft stated that on the 1st inst. he was on duty in Conisboro’ Cliffs, and heard some one moving about in a garden. He went inside, and found the defendant in a hut. He searched him, and found six snares in his coat pocket.
Defendant said he had had the snares given him a few weeks previously. It was the first time he had been caught sleeping out, and it would be the last.
A penalty of 10s. and 13s. 6d. costs was imposed.
