The Denaby branch of the British Legion commemorate the 10th anniversary of the outbreak of war by all in a cricket match on Monday on the ground adjoining the club.

This was quite a bank Holiday attraction, and was witnessed by nearly 2000 spectators.

The match was between teams representing officials and members of the branch. The officials, who batted first, scored 77, Tom Oxley, the secretary of the club been top scorer with 17.

The members reply with 80 for 9, their top scorer been S Hinchcliffe (40)

A collection was taken up during the match for the Children’s Christmas Treat Form, organised in connection with the club and realised 33 shillings. (£1.65)

The Denaby Main Ambulance Band played selections during the afternoon and evening.
