Brutal Attack on a Miner.

A miner named Samuel White of New Conisbro’, was summoned on Saturday for assaulting Daniel Taylor on the 19th March.

The complainant said, on the previous Saturday night the assault was committed.

The defendant violently knocked him down by a blow in the neck, and while down he repeatedly kicked him about the body. His head was injured.

Albert Tucker deposed to seeing the attack, and said the defendant left the complainant lying the ground. The defendant was drunk at the time. The next morning he again insulted the complainant.

Phoebe Hill also spoke to the assault.

The defendant did not appear in answer to the summons.

Sergeant Brown said he served the summons on the man, and he seemed to be in respectable circumstances.

It was stated that White had absconded.

Fined £1 and £1 3s costs; one month in default
