Conisborough Notes – Burial Board & Self Government

I see the local newspapers still act upon the suggestion that they should send stenographers to the Burial Board of Conisborough. But I imagine they are getting tired of doing so. The information is of the most interesting and dreary character —perhaps that is what might be expected and certainly not worth sending professional gentlemen to gather.

Now, if the ratepayers will put themselves “in form” for a Local Board there will be some sense in it, and we should soon able to scan with interest the doings of our local Parliamentarians in reference to roads, footpaths, sanitary arrangements, the erection of property, the water and gas questions,

We are at a standstill—or rather retrograding in these directions —and it is a most serious matter in the interests of the future of Conisborough.

No who has the welfare of the township at heart will speak against local self government, and it is gratifying to know that the opinions express by Mr. Caleb Kilner are gaining ground rapidly is the minds of other prominent local townsmen.
