Bus Strike Boon
Peaceful Interlude at Conisbrough.
For many months Mr J. Proctor, headmaster of Conisbrough Morley Place, Junior School has complained of the noise of the “Canyon Flyer” – a diesel bus which travels past the school to the Ellershaw housing estate – known locally as “Concrete Canyon.”
Now for the last week of his teaching career (he retired today) he has had “peace and quiet” in the school as the “Flyer” is not running because of the bus strike.
At Wednesday’s meeting of Conisbrough safety committee Mr Proctor said that it was now much safer on the road and “our school is peaceful at last,” he said
“Which shows a need for noise abatement as well as smoke abatement,” joked one member.
