Cadeby Accident

I am told of a very singular accident that occurred towards the surface man at the Cadeby Colliery on Wednesday morning last.

It appears that W Milnes, labourer, who hails from Edlington, was sat getting his breakfast, for which purpose he was using a pocket knife which accidentally slipped out of his hand stop in attempting to save the knife and fall to the ground, he struck it was a great force into his leg, making a nasty cut in his left thigh. He quickly made his way to the enquiry office, where first aid was rendered by Mr Wainwright, the timekeeper, who I believe is an experienced ambulance man.

Milnes was afterwards taken home in the colliery Trap.
