At the time of the 1911 Census, Joseph Benjamin, who was born in Pelsall in Staffs, lived with his parents at Clifton.
The head of the household, Benjamin Fox aged 42, was a Coal Hewer from Walsall in Staffs; his wife Mary Ann was 56 and they had been married for 24 years.
Also in the house were his brothers Ernest, aged 19 and also a Pony Driver, and Abraham aged 16 who was a lamp carrier below ground.
The other occupant was their sister Minnie aged 12.
