Cadeby Top the Target
Cadeby Main colliery topped their 9,150 tons output target despite the fact that a dispute on the morning shift on Monday of last week (reported in our last issue) affected 90% of the workers. The production figure by the end of the week was 9,226 tons.
Coun. I. Houghton, president of Cadeby branch of the National Union of Mineworkers, told a South Yorkshire Times reporter on Wednesday that the greatest credit was due to the surface workers for their valiant work throughout the present period of blizzard weather.
The weather had frozen the grease boxes of wagons, but the wagon fillers had used sylvester to move the wagons inch by inch under the screens.
