Canon Leteux.
The Rev C. Leteux, Roman Catholic priest at Denaby Main, has been created a Canon of the Leeds Diocese, and a member of the Leeds Dioceasean Educational Council. The installation will be at the Roman Catholic Cathedral. Leeds, on September 1.
Father Leteux has been at Denaby five years, having previously been at Barnsley for five months, and before that at Hemsworth for 24 years. His kindly administration has endeared him to every member of the Roman Catholic Church at Denaby, and his excellent work on behalf of education is acknowledged by all. Father Leteux is honorary secretary of the West Riding Roman Catholic Schools Managers, and has put the Roman Catholic School at Denaby on its way to prosperity.
The vacancy in the Bishop’s Chapter was caused by the death of Cannon Hill of Barnsley. The chapter is limited to 12 cannons, who act in an advisory capacity to the Bishop.
The “Children of Mary” at the Denaby church are presenting Father Leteux with the robes of a Canon, and the investiture will probably take place on the last Sunday in August at the club.
Miss Nora Macdonald is a president of the Guild, Miss Edith Faulkner the secretary, and Miss Queenie Beardsley of Mexborough the treasurer.
