Careless Denaby Colliers.

On Saturday, at Doncaster West Riding Police Court, William Wilson, dataller, was summoned at the instance of the Denaby and Cadeby Main Colliery for a breach of special rule No. 90.

Mr. Gichard appeared on behalf of the company.

Defendant pleaded guilty to taking matches into the mine, and was fined 1s. and 16s. 6d. costs.

Thomas Ancote, collier, Denaby, was also summoned for a breach of colliery rule 101, and pleaded guilty to the offence.

Defendant had hewn out 10ft. 6in. of coal in width, and 3ft. in depth, without setting sufficient sprags.

The colliery company, Mr. Gichard said, did not wish to press the case, but desired that the men should obey the rules for their own safety.

He was ordered to pay a fine of 1s. and 12s. 6d. costs.
