Denaby Miner Killed A verdict of “Accidental Death” was recorded at a Conisborough inquest on Wednesday on Peter Farley, aged 55, a miner, of 22, Prior Road, Conisborough, who was fatally injured at Denaby Main Colliery on Friday last.

A workmate, George Fred Schofield, of 73. Cowper Road, Mexborough, said that while they were filling coal there was s sudden creek and a piece of coal six feet in length and weighing a ton fell from the face on to Farley. He tried to get clear when witness shouted a warning, but was trapped by a prop.

It was stated that there was plenty of timber available, and a deputy. Harry Millington. of Hirst Gate. Mexborough. said that everything was apparently in order before the accident. He described Farley as a very good workman on whom he could rely not to take risk.
