Caught the Bus
An accident at the cross-roads near the Star Hotel, Conisborough, on March 30th, resulted in a Birkdale driver, John Singleton, being summoned at Doncaster with driving in a dangerous manner or without due care and attention.
A bus driver, Percy William Chatting, said he was driving from Doncaster and when near the Star Hotel he signalled for 25 yards that he was about to turn into Brook Square. He had noticed just previously a lorry coming up behind. When he had almost got into Brook Square there was a crash on his offside.
Arthur Pendlebury, the conductor, Walter Wilkinson, a passenger, and P.C. Rose gave similar evidence.
P.C. Rose said the lorry “glanced along the side of the bus” and then travelled a further 30 yards.
There were 18 passengers in the bus.
Defendant was fined £3.
