Child Drowned at Denaby

On Sunday afternoon a young boy named John Whitworth, the son of a miner employed at Denaby Main, accidentally fell into the canal near Truelove’s buildings while walking beside it.

He drowned before assistance could be obtained.

His body was recovered shortly afterwards.
