Children Filmed For Documentary
Denaby and Conisbrough schoolchildren will be featured documentary programme scheduled for screening in the Autumn.
A B.B.C. film crew under producer Chris Thomas recently spent two days at Balby Street Junior School, filming the normal school activities for a programme on selection in various aspects of life.
Now the school has been informed that the films have turned out very sucessfully and are to be put on the screen in October.
Through School
The programme will deal with the progression of a child through school, showing work done in the reception class, among the seven and eight year olds, and finally in the top class.
Individual children will be featured and the film also includes a panoramic view of Denaby, shot from the top of Conisbrough Crags.
The film unit followed the children as they climbed the Crags, and looked out over the village, as a background to readings given by some of the 11 year olds on “a bird’s eye view of Denaby.”
The children read out their own work, expressing their personal view of the village in which they live.
Normal Day
Deputy Headmistress, Mrs. E. Chadwick, said this week, “We carried on with a normal day’s work while they filmed. The producer told us that Balby Street School was one of several locations throughout the country they had been shooting for the programme. It will be screened in the evening, probably some time in October.”
