A rising pianist and singer is Joyce Banks, a 14-year-old Denaby Main girl, daughter of Mr and Mrs W Banks, Welfare House, Tickhill Square.

Mr Hebron Morland organist at the Gaumont cinema, Doncaster, recently had her play and sing, and was so impressed that Joyce the other week appeared on the stage at the cinema. She was enthusiastically received.

Joyce’s version of “The Indian Love Call” from “Rose Marie” and the famous Victor Herbert tune “Ah! Sweet mystery of life” proved very popular with Doncaster audiences.

Included in Joyce’s repertoire is a piano impersonation of Charlie Kunz. Joyce has appeared at the Gaumont cinema, Middlesbrough, this week. She is a member of a musical family, several of her relatives being well known in local musical circles.
