Food Distribution
Soon after the commencement of the strike, officials at Denaby and Cadeby collieries, Ltd., agreed to a voluntary levy to provide refreshments for those taking part in the games held in the cricket and football fields and the bowling green.
Their activities have now been extended to feeding children and on Tuesday at Rossington Street schools, 300 boys were fed, and on Wednesday, at the same school, 700 girls and infants were given teas.
Last night, at the Balby Street School 1800 sandwiches and 600 buns were distributed to schoolchildren.
By permission of the Colliery company, the committee have been allowed the use of two new houses on the housing associations new site for use as headquarters for distribution purposes.
Today (Friday) teas will be provided for every child in their newer portion of Conisborough.
