There are 900 applicants for the £300 grant from the Coalfields’ Distress Fund to Conisborough, which is to distributed to procure boots and clothing for women and children.
The Urban Council, who are responsible for the allocation of the money, have found it necessary to fix the following limit for applicants, exclusive of rates and rent;
lncome to household of two, £1; with one child, 24s.; with two children. 27s.; with three children, 30s.; with four children or over, 33s.
It is anticipated that with so large a number applicants for so small amount there will be keen disappointment among the distressed miners and their families.
