Mexborough & Swinton Times – Friday 04 September 1891

Wm. Jones, miner, of Denaby, was summoned for having contravened special rule 90 at the Denaby Main Colliery by damaging a safety lamp on August 15th.

Mr. Hickmott prosecuted.

A young man employed as lampman said that on the day named when he gave the lamp to the defendant it was in good condition, but when he returned It was damaged.

Fined 5s. and costs.

James Petty, driver, of Mexborough, aged 14, was summoned for breach of special rule 66 by not fixing a back stay behind a tram at Denaby Main Colliery on August 21st.petty

A man named John Johnson said he saw the defendant on the day in question, and when he asked him where his back stay was he answered that he had lost it.
