Colliery Prosecutions from the Denaby Colliery

John Rooney, a pony driver of Denaby, was summoned for committing a breach of colliery rule 89 by riding on an underground road.

Mr. W. M. Gichard prosecuted.

The defendant pleaded guilty, and Mr. Gichard remarked that there were no special circumstances connected with the case.

The defendant was fined 2s. 6d. and costs, 11s. 6d.

James Severns, a pony driver of Mexboro’, was summoned for a like offence, and he was also ordered to pay 2s. 6d. and 11s. 6d. costs.

Herbert George, a pony driver of Conisboro’, was summoned for having committed a breach of special rule 8.

Mr. Gichard explained that the offence was of defendant trying to get in the cage after the signal for it to go up had been given.

He not only endangered his own life, but the lives of others.

He was fined 2s. 6d. and 11s. 6d. costs.
