Mr and Mrs G Baker in Car Smash
Collision near Conisborough
Two motor cars, one driven by Mr George Baker, O.B.E., steel manufacturer, Herringthorpe Hall, Rotherham and formerly from Swinton, and the other by Mr Edward Lumb, of Warmsworth, of Mrs Appleyard and Lumb, haulage contractors, of Conisborough, were involved in collision on Sheffield Road, Warmsworth, last night, about 100 yards from the scene of last week’s double Road fatality.
Mr Lumb was driving from Conisborough to Warmsworth and dipped his headlights for the approaching car, driven by Mr Baker.
Suddenly two boat horses loomed up in front of him and he was obliged to pull out to avoid striking them.
Mr Lumb’s car was overturned and glass were scattered all over the road. Mr Lumb had to climb out of one of the windows of his car, but was not injured.
Mr Baker and Mrs Baker, who was accompanying Mr Baker, were also unhurt. Mr Baker’s car was damaged at the front and put out of action
