Lectures to Raise Money at Conisbrough
To raise funds for a new community centre for the old folk of Denaby and Conisbrough, Denaby and Conisbrough Old People’s Welfare Committee are to run a series of lectures if they can get lecturers to come to the district without making any charge.
The Rev R. E. Kendall, Wesley Methodist minister, put the proposal to the committee at their meeting on Wednesday.
He said that if they got good lecturers they could fill a hall with about 200 people and make a good profit, for a worthy cause. It would, however, depend on the wholehearted support of the people of Denaby and Conisbrough, but the committee with the various bodies they have represented could help to fill the whole of 200 people he said.
It was agreed to set up a subcommittee to organise the lectures
